something worth remembering especially for those with wounds from falling down upon hot, rough tar roads.

Excisional Wounds

It is more complicated than primary union or wound healing by first intention. ill tell this with my own words and they'll be as blunt as words can be.

First intention wound healing is when there is a cut, not necessarily deep but enough to disrupt and tear a bit of the basement membrane. There is a limited loss of epithelial and connective tissue and relative to excisional wound, the cut is narrower and a tad deeper. Something you would get from a paper cut or when cutting onions, u bleed your hand. cuts. u get it. Now, healing involves some modest amount of granulation and then u get a thin scar. that's even an understatement. with lots of vitamin C and E u might even recover flawlessly.

not, getting to the fun part. My idea of fun. is when you fall down, your jeans get teared by the hard, hot and rough road, you dont get any really deep cuts. just some skin being pulled out of proportion. its larger and wider in area compared to the first cut when u cut onions. Now this, people, is what we call, excisional wound. congratulations.

you go back, you stare at this wound and u think it look a more nicer than the first wound. less blood a bit cleaner. you bathe in cold water, and it hurts like.. it hurts like.. like.. well, like fire.

Scientifically, there are more intense inflammatory reactions with all those phagocytes, exudates, chemical mediators (must i mention? bradykinins, histamines, PAF, LTB bla bla bla the whole package) . one.

two. More granulation than the first one. three. More extensive collagen deposition. the classy collagen from drinks, here, provide us some meshwork to reunite all these fluff cells to aid in wound healing. which also leads to.. here, on your knee, a scar.

a beautiful, big, scar.

and might i add. it contracts. So, remember all these mates!

1.more inflammation

2.more granulation

3.more collagen deposition

4.bigger scar that contracts

5.you look meaner and tough

oh and before that scar forms, grossly, abcess forms and ull probably have pus sitting nicely on your knee.
